🟥⭐Sending money to China

This article explains the current rules and requirements for sending an international transfer to China through Neema, including sending to a digital wallet (WeChat and Alipay) and a UnionPay account

Important notes and restrictions

  • Governmental Chinese Restriction: Each recipient may not receive more than USD 50,000 in foreign currency per year, regardless of how many bank cards or WeChat/Alipay accounts are registered under their name. If this limit is exceeded, you must change the recipient rather than switching the receiving account.

  • Transfer limits: Limit is $15,000 per transaction, $30,000 per day/ month.

  • Please note that the limits of banks and digital wallets may differ and can sometimes be lower. The sender should always verify the receiving bank/wallet limits before making a transfer.

  • Transfer fee: $2.99 per transaction

  • For Alipay and UnionPay, the beneficiary must be a Chinese citizen.

  • Due to strict Chinese regulations, it is recommended to send a small test amount before attempting a larger transfer.

  • Sometimes for Chinese transfers WeChat/AliPay/UnionPay may request supporting documents for your transfer, please note these requests are initiated by their compliance departments as part of the current regulations and are not coming from Neema.


WeChat

  • Beneficiary details required:

    • Chinese phone number: +86 (11 digits)

    • Or international number registered to WeChat Pay

      ⚠️ No extra zero after country code (e.g., 9720… will fail).

    • Full name in English, written exactly as registered in WeChat records.

  • First-time receiver steps:

    1. The receiver gets an SMS or app notification to complete WeChat registration.

    2. The receiver must select either FAMILY_SUPPORT or SALARY_PAYMENT as the reason for receiving funds.

    3. The prompt must be completed within 48 hours, or the transfer will be canceled and refunded automatically.

  • Fee: $2.99 per transaction

  • Transaction currency: CNY (Yuan)

  • Transaction limit:

    • 18,000 CNY per transaction

    • Maximum 2 transfers per day, 5 transfers per week, 10 transfers per month, and 25,000 shekels per month

  • Transfer time: Approximately 15 minutes

  • Other restrictions for sending: The recipient's WeChat account must have a receiving profile (collection card) already set up.

Alipay

  • Beneficiary details required:

    • Account number (phone number or email address associated with Alipay).

    • Beneficiary must be a Chinese citizen.

  • First-time receiver steps:

    1. The beneficiary must complete real-name authentication in Alipay.

    2. Authentication must be completed within 72 hours, or the transfer will be canceled and refunded automatically.

  • Fee: $2.99 per transaction

  • Transaction limit: 38,000 CNY per transaction

  • Transfer currency: CNY (Yuan)

  • Other restrictions for sending: The recipient's Alipay account must have a receiving profile (collection card) already set up

UnionPay

  • Beneficiary details required:

    • Full name in English, written exactly as in the beneficiary's account

    • 9-digit Chinese ID number.

    • Receiver must be a Chinese citizen with active UnionPay account.

  • Fee: $2.99 per transaction

  • Transaction limit:

    • 34,000 CNY per transaction

    • Maximum 3 transfers per day to a single bank card, and no more than 30,000 shekels per month

  • Other restrictions for sending:

    • The recipient's bank card must not be issued by a local/regional bank, must not be a supplementary (secondary) card, and must have international transactions enabled.

    • Check whether the recipient's Chinese citizen ID card has expired.

  • Receiving methods: UnionPay card
