🟨🟦🟥 Sending money to Colombia

This article explains the current rules and requirements for sending an international transfer to Colombia through Neema, including sending to a bank account and sending to a wallet (MOVii, DaviPlata, and Nequi)

Important notes and restrictions

  • Source of funds: Remember to always send only your salary. If your friends also want to transfer money, it is important for them to open their own Neema account.

  • Beneficiary verification: Transfers to Colombia require beneficiary verification. Depending on the beneficiary bank (e.g., Bancolombia or Davivienda), this process can take between 1 and 3 business days. Verification is required only once. After identification is completed, transfers will process on the same business day.

  • Beneficiary contact: Make sure the beneficiary is reachable by phone and can visit a bank branch for physical identification if necessary.

  • Sending to your own account: Sending money to your own account in Colombia is not recommended. If you have already done so, you must provide the Colombian phone number of a person located in Colombia who holds power of attorney for your account to complete verification on your behalf. Alternatively, you can complete manual acceptance via your bank's app/portal if available.
