This article explains the current rules and requirements for sending an international transfer to Zambia through Neema, including sending to a digital wallet (MTN and Airtel) and sending to a bank account

Important notes and restrictions

  • TPIN Verification: All transactions to Zambian wallets require a Tax Identification Number (TPIN) linked to the recipient's account. Transactions without a registered TPIN will be halted at the validation stage, as required by Zambian law. Before sending money, confirm with your recipient that their TPIN is registered with their account.

Sending to Digital Wallets

Airtel

  • Transaction limit: Maximum per transaction: ZMW 10,000 (~$401)

MTN

  • Transaction limit: Maximum per transaction limit: ZMW 10,000 - 500,000 (depending on beneficiary's profile).


Sending to bank accounts

  • Transaction limit:

    • Minimum per transaction limit: ZMW 70

    • Maximum per transaction limit: ZMW 20,000

    • Weekly transaction limit: ZMW 116,000

    • Monthly transaction limit: ZMW 465,000

    • Yearly transaction limit: ZMW 5,600,00
