This article explains the current rules and requirements for sending an international transfer to Nigeria through Neema, including sending to a bank account, sending for cash pickup, and sending to a wallet (MTN, Airtel/Smartcash)

Important notes and restrictions

  • Transfer currency: Sending to Nigeria is now in local currency only.


Sending to bank accounts

Bank transfer service is available to most local banks.

  • Required information of the beneficiary:

    • First and last name of the receiver.

  • Fee: $3.00

  • Transaction limit:

    • Minimum transfer amount: $10.

    • Maximum monthly transfer: $5,000.


Sending to digital wallets

Smartcash (Airtel)

  • Required information of the beneficiary:

    • Receiver mobile wallet details.

  • Transaction limit:

    • KYC receiving limits (set by Smartcash):

      • Tier 1: Maximum 50,000 NGN

      • Tier 2: Maximum 200,000 NGN

      • Tier 3: Maximum 5,000,000 NGN

  • Transfer time: Real-time.


MTN

  • Required information of the beneficiary:

    • Receiver MTN mobile wallet details.
