This article explains the current rules and requirements for sending an international transfer to Ghana through Neema, including sending to a wallet (MTN, Airtel, Vodafone) and sending to a bank account

Important notes and restrictions

  • Wallet daily limits: MTN mobile wallet in Ghana has daily limitations set according to the customer's profile:

    • Minimum customer profile: 1,000 GHS

    • Medium customer profile: 5,000 GHS

    • Enhanced customer profile: 10,000 GHS

  • If a transfer exceeds the daily limit, the transaction will get canceled and returned.

  • Senders must ensure the receiver has enough space in their wallet, as there is also a balance limit.


Sending to digital wallets

With Neema you can send to 3 digital wallets in Ghana:

  • MTN MoMo

  • AirtelTigo

  • Vodafone

MTN MoMo

  • Transaction limit:

    • Maximum transaction amount 25,000 GHS

    • Minimum transaction amount: 1 GHS

    • Limits set by the MTN:

      • Minimum KYC level: Max balance GHS 3,000; Daily transaction limit GHS 5,000; Monthly transaction limit GHS 10,000

      • Medium KYC level: Max balance GHS 15,000; Daily transaction limit GHS 40,000; Monthly transaction limit - no limit

      • Enhanced KYC level: Max balance GHS 25,000; Daily transaction limit GHS 75,000; Monthly transaction limit - no limit

  • Transaction currency: GHS (Cedi)

  • Transfer time: Real-time

  • Other restrictions for sending:

    • MTN mobile wallet daily transfer limit is 5,000 GHS by default for medium profiles. Exceeding this limit will cause the transaction to be canceled and returned.

    • How to check my MTN Momo limits:

      • Dial *170# on your phone and follow these steps:

        1. Select Option 6 (My Wallet)

        2. Press # (Hash) for the next menu

        3. Select Option 8 (Check Wallet Limits)

        4. Enter your Mobile Money PIN to confirm

      • An SMS will pop up on your screen displaying your current daily limit, the remaining amount you can transact for the day, and your total monthly limit


AirtelTigo

  • Transaction limit:

    • Maximum transaction amount 10,000 GHS

    • Limits set by the AirtelTigo:

      • Minimum KYC level: Max balance GHS 3,000; Daily transaction limit GHS 5,000; Monthly transaction limit GHS 10,000

      • Medium KYC level: Max balance GHS 15,000; Daily transaction limit GHS 40,000; Monthly transaction limit - no limit

      • Enhanced KYC level: Max balance GHS 25,000; Daily transaction limit GHS 75,000; Monthly transaction limit - no limit

  • Transaction currency: GHS (Cedi)


Vodafone

  • Transaction limit:

    • Maximum transaction amount 10,000 GHS

    • Limits set by the Vodafon:

      • Minimum KYC level: Max balance GHS 3,000; Daily transaction limit GHS 5,000; Monthly transaction limit GHS 10,000

      • Medium KYC level: Max balance GHS 15,000; Daily transaction limit GHS 40,000; Monthly transaction limit - no limit

      • Enhanced KYC level: Max balance GHS 25,000; Daily transaction limit GHS 75,000; Monthly transaction limit - no limit

  • Transaction currency: GHS (Cedi)


Sending to bank accounts

  • Transaction limit:

    • Maximum transaction amount: GHS 150,000

    • Minimum transaction amount: GHS 1,000

  • Transaction currency: GHS (Cedi)
