This article explains the current rules and requirements for sending an international transfer to Kenya through Neema, including sending to a bank account and sending to a wallet (AirtelTigo, Equitel, M-Pesa, Safaricom)

Important notes and restrictions

  • Name validation requirements: Safaricom enforces validation rules for both sender and receiver names. Name must contain at least a first name and a last name. Single names, initials, abbreviations, or numeric values are not permitted. Special characters are allowed.

  • General wallet limit: The standard maximum transaction amount for digital wallets in Kenya is KES 150,000 (specific M-Pesa limits apply).


Sending to digital wallets

With Neema you can send to 4 digital wallets in Kenya:

  • Required information of the beneficiary:

    • First name and last name matching the receiver's official details (single name or first name only is not permitted).

    • Names must not contain initials, abbreviations, or numeric values (special characters are allowed).

  • Transaction limit:

    • KES 150,000 per transaction.

    • KES 500,000 limit per day.
