👨💼 Dan, tell us a bit about your role. How did you get into compliance?
Before joining Neema, I spent years working in Customer Care at one of the world’s leading online payment companies. I wanted to dive into something that blends support, regulation, and a bit of detective work. That’s how I fell into compliance — it’s like crime scene investigation, but with spreadsheets.
I've been with Neema for about a year and a half now. My team and I work directly with customers, banks, and partners; a part of our duties is focusing on reducing fraud, combating money laundering, and generally making life hard for scammers.
💡 What motivates you in this job?
I’d say it’s two things: First, Neema’s fantastic product — it’s a truly competitive platform that helps people. And second, the people I work with. I get to collaborate with talented professionals who come from all over the world. It’s inspiring to be part of a team that values diverse skills and perspectives.
🚨 What financial threats should Neema users look out for?
Fraud is the biggest threat we see. A lot of phishing and social engineering attacks are happening — these aren’t just the shady messages you see on Facebook or WhatsApp, but sophisticated tactics designed to steal your login info and take over your account.
These attacks can come in many forms: social media messages, fake websites, or even a phone call that sounds friendly from ‘Neema’, asking for “just a quick verification.” If someone gets access to your credentials, they can do serious damage.
